An islander with experience of mental health difficulties will be braving the chilly waters of 12 bays in a single day to raise money to help others.
Later this month, Marta Pugsley will be embarking on a swim spanning the 12 different parishes in just 24 hours to raise awareness and money for Mind Jersey.
Having had mental health struggles of her own, Marta was encouraged to keep up her sea swimming after summer had ended by her GP, keeping her swimsuit on when most islanders had put theirs back in the cupboard.

This then led to Marta's decision to dip into the fundraising waters, wanting to both bring awareness on the issues around mental health, as well as give something back to the charity that has supported her over the past few years.
On taking the dive, Marta said: “I can’t express how much swimming has benefitted my own mental health during this turbulent global pandemic.
“We’re so blessed to live on such a beautiful Island with access to a huge range of stunning bays, even in the depths of winter! I thank God everyday for this opportunity and this is just my small way of giving back.”
So far, Marta has raised £1,700 of her £2,100 target for Mind Jersey, with 72 people contributing.
'The Cold Water Challenge' will take place on 21 February.
