Islanders had to be hospitalised following a crash involving two cars near South Hill yesterday.
The collision, which involved a silver Mini Cooper with L-plates and another silver car, saw La Quai aux Marchands shut for what was described as a "considerable period" on Wednesday.
Fire and Rescue Service officials added that "occupants from both vehicles [had] to be transported to hospital by ambulance."
The St. Helier accident was one of two attended by the Fire Service yesterday.
The other, which took place in St. John, involved an orange vehicle and a silver Honda. Both vehicles sustained considerable damage as they collided, with Fire and Rescue officials fearing that one of the vehicles had caught fire after the impact.
Both incidents are now under investigation by the Police.
The car crashes came amid what was a busy night for the< Fire Service, who recorded their packed schedule in a Facebook post: "As well as the usual routines and training with our On-Call colleagues we attended 8 calls during our final 15 hour night shift. The emergency calls included, open land fires, 2 road traffic collisions, 2 kitchen fires, a commercial fire alarm sounding, as well as assisting the Ambulance Service with one of their calls."
One of the calls related to a property whose fire alarm was set off after cooking was left unattended.
Responding to calls regarding a blaring fire alarm and strong smells of smoke, the Green Watch crew entered a town home via a first floor window using a nine-metre ladder.
Once inside, the group were then forced to break down a door using a saw before making the area safe and blowing the smoke out of the property with a pressure fan.
Following the call, Watch Commander Ryan praised the residents who on hearing the alarm called 999.
"This incident shows the importance of a working smoke alarm. Not just in saving life, but in this incident further damage to the property was avoided," he said.
