Well, we must have been peckish this weekend – Islanders have consumed 2,555 Whoppers and served 3,310 customers since Burger King opened for business on Friday morning.
The staff at the new fast food outlet have been run off their feet – they’ve reported that there was a queue from the moment they opened until around 9.30 pm on Sunday night.
In the first three days, they say that they sold 3,750 meal deals, including 2,555 Whoppers to 3,310 customers.
The new franchise opposite the Town Hall in York Street is being run by SandpiperCI, who say that it has created 25 new jobs.
It will be open from 7 am to 11 pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 8 am to 10 pm on Sundays.
It’s looking like a good year for fast food chains – Domino’s Pizza has recently been given Planning permission to open premises in St Saviour’s Road, and they say that they will be up and running this Autumn.
Burger King operates in more than 15,000 locations around the world and has more than 34,000 employees.
