A local charity is challenging islanders to walk or run 50 miles this month to raise money to help support the 1,600 people in Jersey living with dementia, as well as their carers and families.
The 50 Mile Challenge encourages participants to get outdoors and be active while raising funds for charity.
The funds will also help the charity to raise awareness and educate islanders about dementia and remove the stigma surrounding it.
Claudine Snape, Dementia Jersey CEO said: "All money raised from sign-ups and fundraising will go towards providing a lifeline to people with dementia and their families and helping make Jersey a more dementia-friendly island.”

Now in its third year, the initiative was first organised by Dementia Jersey’s volunteer Simone Sains.
It has become one of the charity’s most successful fundraising events, with the 2023 event raising over £18,000 with 300 participants.
The government partnered with the charity this year to encourage more islanders to get moving and organisers hope to surpass last year’s total.
Ell Hopton, Government Active Travel Engagement Officer, said: “Not only is walking a great way to accomplish your new year goals of getting fitter, Islanders will also be saving money and helping the environment.
“By increasing active travel throughout January, you will be creating great habits for the rest of the year.
“We encourage workplaces to get involved, supporting employees to be more active and reduce their carbon footprint in 2024.”
Participants are asked to complete 50 miles at their own pace by 31 January. The event costs £12.50 for adults and £7.50 for children up to 14 years old.
