Travellers who had been isolating under previous travel rules will be able to leave quarantine today provided their most recent covid test was negative.
From today, the ‘traffic light’ system is no longer in use – instead, travellers who have not been fully vaccinated will only have to isolate until the result of their first test.
Those who are not fully vaccinated will then only need a single follow-up test on day eight. Travellers in this category will not be required to stay in Jersey to complete their second test.
Meanwhile, fully vaccinated islanders will only be tested at the border. They will not have to isolate or undergo any follow-up testing.
Also from today, anyone who is currently in isolation due to arriving on-island during the previous travel policy will “be able to leave isolation as long as they have received at least one negative PCR result” and agree to “still attend any pre-arranged test appointments", the Government has clarified.
However, this does not include those who have visited a country on the UK Government travel ban list – these passengers must complete the full testing and isolation requirements.
Over the weekend, inbound travellers accounted for 34 of the 454 new covid cases detected. The majority (241) were contact traced or were feeling unwell and seeking healthcare (160).
