A 20-year-old who used a window insurance disc from another car on his new Mini – because he was unable to pay for coverage – has been fined over the "dumb mistake".
The Magistrate's Court heard this week that, when Vlad-Tiberiu Puscasu got a new red Mini Cooper, he had attached the disc from his other car, a black Fiat.
Inquiries made after he drove it through Grouville on 12 May revealed that he did not have insurance for the new vehicle.
Appearing in court last week, he said that he had used the other disc because he had not been able to pay for insurance for the new car.
“I’m really sorry about it. It was a dumb mistake,” he told Magistrate David Le Cornu.
He subsequently fined Puscasu £2,500, and allowed him to pay it at a rate of £120 per month.
Puscasu was also banned from driving for two months.
