Brain Tumour Charity raises £1,300 during Royal Wedding celebrations

Jersey Brain Tumour Charity's 70 guests raised £1,300 during the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle.

The guests gathered at the Radisson Blu last Saturday in their best attire, as if they were attending the wedding, and enjoyed a private screening of the wedding.

Local choir the Hot Bananas provided the entertainment ahead of the ceremony. A delicious three-course lunch was served, followed by after-dinner speeches. The charity wanted it to be "a very entertaining day where everyone can enjoy the wedding," while helping raise funds and awareness of its actions.

Speaking after the celebrations, the team said: "As you can see from our photos the day was fantastic, all our guests turned up in their wedding outfits and looked amazing, everyone enjoyed watching the wedding and the atmosphere in the room was fab!

"It was great to be able to share in such a lovely occasion all the way from Jersey and it's certainly not an occasion that we will forget. We must give special thanks to the Hot Bananas, who were singing wedding themed songs and they did a fantastic job.”

The charity raised £1,300 from the event including the raffle. The team said: "This is a massive amount of money for our small charity and it means a lot to us. But the awareness we raised of the charity on the day was equally of importance to us.

"We spoke to a few of our guests who hadn’t heard of the charity till we launched the event but had experienced brain tumours in differing ways. To us this is invaluable!  We are trying so hard to get our charity into the public domain so that anyone who has need receives the support we can give."
