They might be known for causing chaos in a galaxy far, far away, but back in Jersey, the Star Wars Stormtroopers have been doing something far more positive.
The Star Wars Jersey Garrison gave away £4,500 to Jersey charities recently.
The troupe, who visit festivals, town and local events, say they’re “100% zero profit”, using their notoriety not to stir trouble, as the popular film saga would suggest, but to collect for Jersey causes.

“We always create a stir, put smiles on faces and generate crowds where ever we go,” they told Express.
The £4,500 sum was the result of those efforts over the past 12 months, with the armed team running May to May each year, and announcing the recipients of their fundraising pots every May the Forth – known as Star Wars Day.
This year, it’s Autism Jersey, Teenage Cancer Trust and the Special Care Baby Unit who felt ‘the Force’ of their fundraising, who received their cheques on the very special day.

“We've all decided to support local children's focused charities. Maybe not the biggest ones with full time professional fundraisers. We like to give the smaller voluntary ones a hand.”
