A Jersey-based construction firm has been selected to build the first phase of a new post-16 campus in Guernsey.
The decision to use Jersey-based Rok Group to build the learning institute was announced this week by Guernsey’s Committee for Education, Sport and Culture.
Rok will now enter a pre-construction services agreement to begin planning work for the Les Ozouets campus.
Construction is expected to begin early next year and the campus is due to open in 2027.
Phase one of the build will include the main building and construction and engineering building, as well as the foundations of the future sixth form centre.
Guernsey's Director of Education Nick Hynes stressed that the chosen construction firm has a "local Guernsey registered entity".
"At Group level, Rok is a Jersey-based company and was appointed following a competitive tender process that local bidders were encouraged to enter," he said.
"Rok, however, offered the most financially and operationally competitive offer.
"I would like to reassure the community that Rok has a local Guernsey registered entity, and a large amount of the works will be undertaken by the local supply chain through subcontracts and will therefore benefit local trades."
Three firms bid for the contract but, as the project is in its pre-construction phase, the cost details remain commercially sensitive.
In addition to this project, Rok Group is also currently demolishing the former St Peter Port School.
