The match kicked off at 3pm in blazing sunshine with spectators sweltering under the fierce heat.
Jersey Friends of Oncology vice chairman Katie Herridge said: "We provide extra care for patients who has discovered they have cancer and we are there to help them in any way we can.
"Thankfully, the survivorship rates for cancer patients is improving all the time and I think the latest figures show that around two-thirds of people diagnosed with cancer are now surviving."
Mr Cassidy said: "I don't think there is anyone who has not been affected by cancer so it seemed like the perfect charity to back. Hopefully, we can make this an annual event. That is certainly the aim."
