Jersey owned horse in Grand National hopes

Saturday 05 April 2014

Jersey racehorse owner Trevor Hemmings is hoping Burton Port will make him a three times winner of today's Grand National.

Burton Port is owned by Hemmings and trained by Jonjo O'Neill. Burton Port has recently joined O'Neill's stable and they'll be hoping Hemmings can make it a hatrick of wins at Aintree.

Burton Port is being widely tipped by pundits. If he wins it will be a hatrick for Hemmings who won the prestigious steeplechase with  Hedgehunter and Ballabriggs in 2005 and 2011, respectively.

Burton Port has been doing well in recent outings and is well handicapped for today's National race with jockey Brian Harding. This will be his second outing after a breathing operation, but there are hopes that will give him a good run today.

The Grand National starts at 4.15pm with the maximum field of 40 runners racing over the famous 4.5 mile course.
