Jersey Hospice Care announces sponsor for 2017 Challenge

Saturday 04 March 2017

Jersey Hospice Care has announced that Ocorian are to sponsor the charity’s next overseas challenge.

The challenge will take participants in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus trekking or cycling from coast-to-coast in Costa Rica.

Heading off in November, the Ocorian 2017 Challenge participants will adventure through rainforests, around volcanoes and through local villages and colonial towns - all in the name of charity.

Emelita Robbins, the charity’s Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted that Ocorian are sponsoring the Ocorian 2017 Challenge for Jersey Hospice Care; the organisation has supported the Challenge since it started in 2001.

“Our Challengers raise a wonderful amount for Hospice and share an experience of a lifetime. Challenges are what makes life interesting: overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”

The groups of trekkers and cyclists will be travelling from the Caribbean coast to the Pacific coast for the biennial fundraiser.

Past destinations include Tanzania in 2015, and Mexico, Peru, Vietnam, Ecuador, South Africa, and China previously.

Shane Hollywood, Managing Director of Ocorian, explained why they wanted to sponsor the event:

“Ocorian is proud to continue its support for Jersey Hospice Care. It is a charity that offers so much support and care to our local community and we are very happy to sponsor the Ocorian 2017 Challenge to Costa Rica. All of the team at Ocorian wishes all the participants, both trekkers and cyclists, the very best of luck for the expedition itself and for all of the fundraising activities.”

It isn’t too late to sign up for The 2017 Ocorian Challenge; registration closes on 31 May. For more information, click here.
