One of Jersey's most popular attractions is inviting islanders to visit for free this evening in order to raise money for victims of domestic abuse.
Jersey War Tunnels will open from 18:00 to help Jersey Women's Refuge, the only independent domestic violence charity in Jersey that provides a 24-hour, confidential service and offers practical and emotional support to local women and children suffering from abuse.
At the open evening, visitors will be able to walk around the tunnels to learn what life was really like for islanders living in Jersey during WWII.
This is the second event of its kind that Jersey War Tunnels has hosted. The previous one, held in 2015, raised over £600 for the Nixon Hansford Trust, a non-profit organisation aimed at supporting a child who suffers from a muscle weakness condition.
Video: Jersey's Women's Refuge, which looks after vulnerable women, will be supported through the open evening.
Kathy Bechelet, Operations Manager at Jersey War Tunnels, said: "We believe it’s important to do our part in helping the local community, which is why we are hosting this charity open evening.
"Jersey Women’s Refuge is a great charity, which carries out vital work to support women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse. I know many of the support workers from the charity and they work tremendously hard and long hours, and make a huge difference to people’s lives.
"I feel passionate about supporting this charity, knowing that there will always be somewhere for women to go if they need help. I hope as many people attend the event as possible to raise money for such a worthy cause."
The open evening will start at 18:00 with doors closing at 20:30. It is open to all islanders and visitors.
