A young Jerseyman has been appointed the CEO of a long-standing UK publication celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
Former Victoria College student Montague Warner, who is known as Tag, has been appointed CEO of the Gay Times aged 24.
Mr Warner started at the company as a consultant with responsibility for branding and partnerships in March last year, having previously worked as a Management Consultant and receiving a degree in Management from the University of Manchester.
The ‘Gay Times’ brand, which publishes its own magazine of the same name, has been running for over 45 years since it launched in 1974. Initially founded as a publication for gay and bisexual men, the magazine now seeks to champion the diverse voices within the LGBTQ+ community.

In a column he wrote for the magazine just after his appointment as CEO, Mr Warner said: “My appointment to CEO of one of the world’s most recognised and historic titles comes with a great deal of responsibility, but also opportunity to create the next chapter for Gay Times and LGBTQ media in our global landscape.
“I believe our community, now perhaps more than ever, needs greater platforms to raise and amplify our voices.”
According to publication Campaign, which provides news for the marketing and advertising community, Mr Warner plans to more closely associate the brand’s magazine and digital channels as well as launching a “philanthropic arm” of the company which will aim to provide grants to media and activist organisations in cultures where LGBTQ people face persecution for their sexuality or gender identity.

Mr Warner told Campaign: “We've noticed significant demand for LGBTQ experiential opportunities in our key city audiences – so we’re going to be expanding our events line-up in 2019 to reach the diverse queer community with cool, current, brand-led experiential opportunities."
Mr Warner replaces former CEO James Frost who bought the magazine in 2017. Mr Frost, who now acts as Chairman of the publication, said of the appointment: “I have every faith that Tag Warner has the vision and skills to lead Gay Times as a global leading brand within modern media."
