Unemployment rose slightly last month to reach its highest number since March.
There were 1,490 people registered as “Actively Seeking Work” with the Social Security department at the end of July.
That number is ten higher than June, but 60 down on where it was 12 months ago.
Figures released by the Statistics Unit show:
- 82% of the total were born in Jersey or Britain.
- 26% were under 25.
- 51% had been unemployed for three months or less.
- 13% had been unemployed for over a year.
The figures do not capture everyone who is unemployed, but they do include everyone on Income Support who is not exempt from full-time work because of illness or disability.
