Football fan friends 'kick on' with fresh charity five-a-side tournament

Thursday 07 March 2024

A pair of football fan friends are bringing back their five-a-side football tournament for the third year to raise funds for a local disability charity.

The organisers are urging more teams to sign up for the five-a-side competition called 'Kick On for Les Amis' in June.

Tom Stead, the Managing Director of Worksafe Jersey, and Jonny Seller, Co-founder and Director of iPop, have raised more than £20,000 for charity since the event was launched in 2022.

The first tournament raised money for the British Red Cross in response to the war in Ukraine. The second competition raised funds for Les Amis — a charity that provides essential services and support to islanders with learning disabilities.

The pair have urged more businesses from across the island to sign up and fill the remaining spots, thanking Ashbe Construction, Style Group, Dandara, ROK, and Hacquoil & Cook for entering already.

How does it work?

Teams will play four matches in their allocated group with the top two from each group progressing onto the knockout rounds.

Each game will be 10 minutes long with the winning team receiving the prestigious 'Kick on for Les Amis' trophy.

Islanders can get involved by emailing the organisers at: tom@worksafe.je or jonny@ipopdigital.com.
