Ladies Day at Les Landes

Sunday 14 August 2016

It’s Ladies day at Les Landes racing tomorrow with five races including the featured One mile 100 yards handicap.

The 3.40pm race is for a first prize of £2,380 and hot favourite is likely to be Mendacious Harpy, ridden by Mattie Batchelor and trained by George Baker.

The seven-horse race includes fancied runners Brown Velvet and Grey Panel, ridden by Philip Prince and Tim Clark respectively. The field also includes Too Many Diamonds, Ocean Crystal, Larch and Fast Freddie, the latter ridden by Nora Looby.

The first race is at 2.30pm and is a Two and half mile handicap hurdle which could see a proper duel between Cahill and Jonnie Skull. Other fancied runners in the six-horse race include Fourni, trained by Alyson Malzard and Jazzy Lady. Hawaiian Freeze and Dalmo make up the rest of the field.

The second race is at 3.05pm and promises to be a tight contest between Swiss Cross, Chapeau Bleu and Pas D’action. Spanish Bounty and First Cat make up the field for the £1,780 first prize.

Eight horses are entered for the One and a quarter mile handicap at 4.15pm, with Mattie Batchelor favourite on board Flutterbee. Likeliest challenger is expected to be Benoordenhout, trained by Tony Le Brocq and ridden by Tim Clark. Engaging Smile and Spring Dixie could also be in the frame for the prize money.

The final race of the day is the One and a half mile handicap at 4.50pm with seven runners, including Jersey Derby winner Aussie Lyrics, trained by Christa Gilbert and ridden by Mark Goldstein. Likeliest challengers are Blue Sea of Ibrox, Mr Opulence and Bowl Imperior, who came a distant second to Aussie Lyrics in July’s feature race.
