Les Amis is on the lookout for local businesses who have spare artwork to donate to their upcoming art auction fundraiser.

The charity, which supports islanders with learning difficulties and other disabilities, will hold an art auction in October to raise funds for a new Nursing and Complex Needs Unit, Evelina Court.

So far, local organisations and other individuals have donated over 40 pieces of artwork, but the charity is looking to collect at least 100 pieces to raise as much money as possible towards their £500,000 target.

Amongst the donated works of art is a locally-inspired piece by Jersey artist, Ian Rolls.

Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “Art is a pleasure that everyone can enjoy. We chose an art auction for our main fundraiser this year because art is so inclusive. Asking organisations if they have any previously loved artwork to donate coincides with Les Amis’ green ethos and we want to give these pieces of art a new home so they can continue to be enjoyed and not go to waste.”

After contacting local businesses, Les Amis are delighted with the response and artwork donated so far; the most generous donation to date being 20 pieces of art donated by Mourant Ozannes.

Mourant Ozannes, Jersey Managing Partner, Jonathan Speck, said: “We are pleased to be able to support Les Amis’ Art Auction with this donation. It is excellent that this artwork can be of use again and help to raise money for such a worthwhile local charity.”

Lauren Carré, PR, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Les Amis, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Mourant Ozannes for donating their artwork and hope that other local firms will follow in their footsteps. If any other businesses, organisations or individuals have pieces of art that are currently unused then we would love to hear from you.”

The Art Auction will take place in the St Helier Town Hall from 9 – 12 October. It will be open to the public from 11:30-14:30. The gala evening on 13 October will take place in the Assembly room from 16:30 onwards.
