The wheels are in motion to create a new BMX bike pump track in St Brelade.
Plans have been passed for a new purpose built American style track at Les Creux.
Mountain biker Aaron Lappage, the man behind the project, says work is due to start this spring and he hopes the new track will be up and running this summer.
Aaron is designing the circuit with plenty of bumps geared so that cyclists can get up enough momentum to ride it continuously without pedaling – a skill known as “pumping”.
Aaron said: “It will be a BMX / mountain bike park with knee high and hip high rollers and berms.
“The island is screaming out for it, there’s nothing like it for kids. I’m really excited about it but there’s still a long way to go.
“We’ve got the support of the parish, the police and the youth service.”
St Brelade Constable Steve Pallet said there had been anti-social problems at Les Creux a few years ago and he thinks it will be good to have more eyes and ears on the site.
He’s confident it will be a great facility for the parish and young Islanders.
