A body of health and law enforcement officials tasked with advising on drug policy warned that various "unintended consequences" – including encouraging criminality in neighbouring jurisdictions – may arise from decriminalising cannabis in a letter to the Health Minister days ahead of a key vote, it has emerged.
The Misuse of Drugs Advisory Council is an expert group who are required by law to keep drug use in Jersey “under review” and provide official advice on preventing or dealing with misuse and the social problems which may arise.
