A bus and coach tour company would like the public to help it track down a man who took a £130 pair of Ray Ban sunglasses on Easter Saturday.

The polo-shirted man, who already had a pair of sunglasses on his head, took the Ray Bans off the counter just before 11:00 while buying tickets to go on a trip with Esplanade-based Jersey Bus Tours.

The company says it will not take any further action if the sunglasses are returned, although it does have an interview with the police tomorrow morning.

Co-owner Julien Le Baillif said: “At first, we thought we’d lost them in the shop, but after a good search, we decided to review the CCTV yesterday and saw them being picked up."

He continued: “We believe it was an English tourist who boarded a tour. We don’t think it was a mistake because we have checked the CCTV and he looked around to check that no staff were looking before picking up the sunglasses.

“The man just gave his name as Glynn and paid for the tour in cash.”

Mr Le Baillif said that the £130 sunglasses belonged to his husband Adam.

“It is so annoying because you don’t expect this sort of thing to happen in Jersey,” he added. “Hopefully, the man will see the error of his ways.”
