LISTEN: How we completed the world's toughest row

Monday 13 March 2023

Two Jersey fundraisers have opened up about the trials and tribulations of eight weeks on the high seas for the world's toughest row - ranging from nudity, to kicks in the teeth and ice-cream induced comas.

In December 2022, Peter Wright and Steve Hayes - together known as team DragonFish - set off to take part in Talisker Whiskey Challenge.

The challenge would take them across the width of the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua, a journey of over 3,000 miles that would take them almost eight weeks to complete.

In this episode of the Bailiwick News Podcast, Tom Innes is joined by Peter Wright and Steve Hayes, the two members of DragonFish Row, fresh off the oars and still fundraising for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.

They discuss the pair’s preparations for their gruelling race across the Atlantic, the race itself, and what it felt like to finally touch down in sunny Antigua.
