Analyst-turned-author steps out from the shadows

A business analyst is hoping to write his way out of the shadows as the next James Herbert or Stephen King.

Jon Stasiak has just published his first novel 'Standing in the Shadows' - a murder mystery with a spooky twist, set in the Island.

Jon said: “I love ghost stories, suspense and thrillers and I’m an artist and photographer on the side. This is about a photographer that sees ghosts so it’s evolved from that.

"I’ve only been here nine years but I love it and it’s a way of showing off the Island."

Jon, who is part of Jersey Writers and co-edited 'Once Upon an Island' - a collection of 21 short stories inspired by Jersey's historic sites and its people, says the book took him three years to write but he wanted to make it as real as possible and got some tips from his brother who's a police officer.

Here's a bit of blurb from Jon on the book: “Tom Nowak, photographer for the Jersey Evening Post, is looking forward to his friend coming over from the mainland. After a trip to St Catherine's woods, Tom seems to have captured ghostly shadows in his pictures.

“The following day, news breaks that a body has been found where Tom and his friends had taken the photos, and Tom wonders if he's got the key to help solve the murder.

“Several other bodies are discovered and it's a race against time for Tom to solve the crime that the police can't.

“How far will Tom go in his obsession with these ghostly silhouettes, and how much will it cost him to apprehend the murdered?”

Jon's now started work on his next novel, one with a supernatural twist. In the meantime, you can find this one on Amazon.
