Jersey Girl blogs her way to finals of national competition

Thursday 04 February 2016

A local blogger who shares the best of what Jersey has to offer has made it to the finals of a national blogging competition.

The ‘Jersey Girl’ blog has made it to the top ten, and been shortlisted for the ‘Best Individual Lifestyle Blog’ in the UK Blog Awards 2016.

Melissa started her blog in 2013 as a hobby and it now has around 5,000 hits a month with readers logging on in Jersey, the UK and USA to find out what’s going on in the Island and get tips on where to go and what to do.

She said: “Basically I set it up as a hobby to start with, a personal diary, keeping track of trips and events and then people started reading it and asking for pictures.

“Now I try and interact more with local restaurants, local shops and promote areas that people can visit when they come to the Island as well as for local people.

“It’s a hobby for me but something I do to help local businesses, it’s about sharing the best of Jersey.”

The awards ceremony is being held at London’s Park Plaza in Westminster on 29 April where the winners of each category will be announced.

Melissa said: “I am delighted to have come this far in the UK Blog Awards and cannot thank my readers enough for taking the time to read my blogs and even more so, for taking the time to vote for me in the initial stages of the UK Blog Awards.

"To be shortlisted in the last ten out of hundreds of blogs is an amazing feeling. I really appreciate the support I have received and look forward to continuing to share my Jersey adventures online.”
