Local fund administrator hits the headlines as The Chase's hottest player yet

Friday 15 April 2016

A Jersey fund administrator has hit the headlines as the 'hottest' player yet on an ITV game show.

Jonny Grimshaw's good looks were spotted by viewers, the Daily Star and Express newspapers after his appearance on 'The Chase' yesterday afternoon.

The Daily Star claimed viewers were more focused on 25-year-old Jonny's 'beef cake status' than how he got on in the tactical race to get into the final chase and try and win a cash pot worth thousands of pounds.

Fans of the ITV show took to Twitter to swoon over the local touch-rugby player calling him 'hot' and were definitely more interested in his appearance than his general knowledge!

Jonny told Bailiwick Express this morning: "I find it hilarious, my friends and family have had a good laugh and scrolling through Twitter I received some 'interesting' offers from a variety of people."

Jonny didn't come home a winner after getting stumped a few questions like whether Findus foods were pickled, tinned or frozen.

He said: The show was a great experience, quite surreal. The nerves got to me on a couple of questions, mainly the Findus fishfinger one which I have had quite a lot of stick about.

"I did OK in the cash builder round but probably should have got a few more correct. I got caught fairly quickly when it came to facing 'The Chaser' but I had a great laugh so I wasn't too bothered although the money would have been nice."

The show was filmed a few months ago and he's now back to his day job at Bedell's but is expecting a bit more stick from his colleagues.

He said: "I imagine the attention will turn to my lack of general knowledge and frozen food items being left on my desk."

The Chase, which is hosted by Bradley Walsh, eventually saw Jonny's fellow contestants Andy and Maureen outrun the chaser and take home £11,000.
