Lottery jackpot climbs past £500k

Friday 10 December 2021

First prize in the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery has now gone over half-a-million pounds with just two weeks to go until the big draw.

The jackpot will be one of more than 60 prizes in total, with other prizes varying in size between £500 and £50,000.

Tickets cost £2 this year, for the second year in a row after they were reduced from £3 each for last year's draw. The 2020 jackpot was £700,000, and at £518,000 the 2021 first prize is climbing closer to that total.

The 2021 tickets went on sale on 4 October. The first prize started at £300,00 and will continue to increase as more tickets are sold in the run up to the draw which will take place in Jersey on 23 December.

Senior Lottery Officer in Guernsey, Jon Taylor, said the current jackpot total means the prize pot has grown by more than £100,000 since the start of last week.

“This is great news for a potential winner or winners," said Mr Taylor. "It’s also important to remember the CI Lottery games raise millions of pounds for local charities and worthy causes throughout the Channel Islands.”

Among the good causes to have benefited from the profits of the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery in recent years are Grow Limited, the Boys' Amalgamated Boxing Club and the Guernsey Cheshire Home.
