Commission seeks responses to survey on young islanders' social care

Improving the quality of social care provide to young islanders is the focus of a survey which closes this week.

Launched last month and closing on Friday 25 August, the survey is aimed at children and young people, as well as their families and others who care for them.

Three organisations have joined to promote the survey in conjunction with the UK-based Picker Institute: the Jersey Care Commission, the Department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills Department and Family Nursing and Homecare.

Jersey Care Commission Chief Inspector Becky Sherrington (pictured top) said: “We would encourage anyone who is yet to complete the survey to please share their feedback to help support and continuously improve the inspection process.

“In particular, if you know any children or young people who are currently using these services, please encourage them to complete the survey.”

The survey, which is also aimed at follows a decision by the States Assembly to expand the Commission’s remit in order to provide regulation for health and social care for young people in Jersey.

The survey is aimed at all staff working within the services and the children who are currently using fostering, adoption, social work and independent reviewing, as well as child and family services.
