The watchdog responsible for auditing public finances in Jersey has been recognised in the King's New Year Honours list.

Lynn Pamment, who has served as Comptroller and Auditor General since the start of 2020, was awarded the CBE for her public service in chairing the Financial Reporting Advisory Board (FRAB) to the UK Treasury Department.

The board was set up in 1996 to promote high standards in financial reporting by the UK Government and has been chaired by Ms Pamment since June 2019.

Grace Nesbitt, Chair of the Jersey Audit Office's Board of Governance, congratulated Ms Pamment on the award, describing it as "clear recognition of her long-standing dedication to public service".

She added: "Lynn’s experience and expertise at both national and international levels were determining factors in her original selection as Comptroller and Auditor General for Jersey – this honour only serves to reinforce the value of her contribution to the role and how that can benefit the island."

Prior to her appointment as C&AG, Ms Pamment was a Lead Partner in PwC UK’s Government and Public Sector Assurance practice, amassing more than 30 years’ experience of working with public and private sector organisations in the UK and beyond.

She was also a Senior Partner in PwC’s Cardiff office, responsible for more than 250 professional staff in Wales.

Ms Pamment said: “I was surprised and delighted to receive notification of the honour and I am humbled to be selected for my work with FRAB.

“The principles of ensuring that government financial reporting meets the best possible standards are important in every jurisdiction.

"My role with FRAB complements my role as C&AG through the Jersey Audit Office, where we aspire to be a trusted and innovative audit organisation that champions good governance and the wise use of public money in Jersey."

Others recognised in the New Year's Honours included business fixer Kevin Keen (OBE), Jersey Eisteddfod chairman Michael Blackie (MBE) and Lions Club Chairman Peter Tabb (BEM).
