A 25-year-old man has admitted that he groomed a girl “for the purposes of sexual gratification,” the Royal Court has heard.
Miguel Angelo Pereira Freitas appeared in Court charged with one count of sending “indecent or obscene” messages, contacting a girl for “sexual gratification” as well as being drunk and disorderly.
His lawyer, Advocate Martin Elks, indicated Freitas’s ‘guilty’ pleas to all three charges.
The Court heard that the messages were sent between 29 October and 2 November last year and the grooming and drunk and disorderly charges took place in February of this year.

The Bailiff Sir William Bailhache, presiding, informed the 25-year-old that due to his admissions, he has “automatically” been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register and the minimum amount of time he will stay on it until he can apply to be removed will be fixed at sentencing.
Freitas was taken back into custody to await sentencing on 20 September.
