Man admits having 400 indecent images of children

Monday 18 February 2019

A 55-year-old man has admitted to having over 400 indecent images of children.

Paul Michael Berry (55) admitted to two charges of possessing indecent images of children in the Royal Court on Friday.

Berry was represented by Advocate Nicholas Mière, who indicated his client’s pleas of ‘guilty’ to both charges.

The Court heard that Berry had in his possession a total of 403 indecent images of under-16s on two computers at a property in St. Lawrence.

Crown Advocate Matthew Maletroit appeared for the prosecution and he asked for Berry to be remanded in custody until his sentencing date.

Advocate Mière made no bail application on behalf of his client. Berry was subsequently taken into custody where he will remain until he is sentenced on 29 March.

The Bailiff, presiding, informed Berry that “as a result of [his] guilty pleas”, he will now be placed on the Sex Offenders’ register for a minimum period that will be set on the date of his sentencing.
