Police officers carrying firearms were this afternoon sent into town following reports of a “disturbance” at a property.
They went to a property in Vauxhall Street shortly after 14:15.
A 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of Grave and Criminal assault in Albert Street.
A 47-year-old woman was treated for an injury to her hand at the scene.

Police are now asking anyone who viewed anything suspicious in the area to contact them on 612612.
