Man charged with indecent exposure given another chance

Monday 04 July 2016

A 51-year-old man who admitted to indecently exposing himself in the Royal Square this weekend was given another chance to get his life back on track this afternoon in the Magistrate’s Court.

Paul Gardner appeared in court before Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris to face the charge of indecent exposure. Police legal adviser Shirley Madden said the landlord from the Pierson Pub had called 999 to report a naked man in the area.

The Court heard that passersby were encouraging the man to put on his clothing, but he was still naked when Police arrived.

Mr Harris told Gardener he would bind over the charge for a month – a move that was supported by the Probation Service.

"We are going to give this a try," Mr Harris said.
