Man detained after 'driving erratically' at group of people

Saturday 27 April 2019

A man has been detained by Police after driving at a group of people, forcing them to run away to avoid the vehicle.

The "dangerous driving" incident, as Police have described it, happened just after 13:30 on Friday.

Police said the man - described as being in his mid-30s - drove a silver hatchback in the car park at Les Platons directly in front of the Beez Kneez Café.

"A number of people were reported to have been in the area and had to run from the car park to avoid the vehicle," they said.

The driver of the car was subsequently detained and is now said to be "assisting Police with their enquiries".

Police are now looking for witnesses of the incident, or anyone who may have captured it on a mobile phone video.

They described the driver of the car as a white male, approximately six foot tall with a medium build, short brown hair and wearing glasses, a grey jumper and blue trousers.

Anyone with information is urged to call 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously via their Anonymous Online Form.
