A 33-year-old man will be facing a trial this summer over allegations that he made over 280 indecent images of children and distributed some of them.
Daniel Rory Stephen Heaney is facing eight charges in total – five of making indecent photographs of children and three of distributing indecent photographs of children. He denies all of them.
Mr Heaney is accused of having made a total of 285 indecent images of children – the majority of which in the lower levels of the 'Copine Scale', which determines the seriousness of indecent images – on four different electronic devices, including a laptop, a hard drive and two mobile phones.
The offences allegedly took place between September 2013 and June 2019.
Mr Heaney is also accused of having distributed indecent images of children on an online messaging system between December 2018 and February 2019, as well as via email in October 2017.
He appeared in Royal Court on Friday where his lawyer, Advocate Adam Harrison, entered 'not guilty' pleas to all the charges on his behalf.
Crown Advocate Emma Hollywood therefore asked for a trial to take place over three days in August.
Mr Heaney has been remanded on bail in the meantime.
