Wednesday 06 September 2017

A man was injured after he was punched and kicked several times at the inaugural Weekender festival.

The police are investigating the suspected assault which took place on Sunday in the dance tent at around 21:00.

Police believe that the victim was punched to the face and then fell to the floor, where he was kicked several times, causing facial injuries; they say that a group of men, one with a tattoo to his neck, were responsible.

The Police would like to speak to anyone who saw this assault or could potentially identify the people involved.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

On Saturday evening, seven islanders, aged 16 to 30, were taken to hospital under the effects of drugs suspected to be MDMA, that had been circulating at the festival.
