A 37-year-old man who breached a binding over order by continuing to harass a woman has been sent to prison.
David Gary Rousseau had been given a 12-month binding over order in June of last year for harassing the woman.
But the Magistrate's Court heard that he had breached the order In January. He was also found in possession of cannabis at the same time. He shouted and swore has he was led from the court to begin his sentence.
Rousseau was not represented in court and had chosen not to engage with probation officers.
Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke jailed him for six months for harassment and nine months for breaching the binding over order, with the two sentences to run concurrently. There was no separate punishment for the possession of cannabis.
He told Rousseau that on his release he must not contact the victim directly or indirectly, follow her or come within 100 metres of her home or workplace.
