A road had to be closed after an islander reported an "explosion" causing drain covers to blow 25 feet into the air.
Emergency Services attended the area between the Bagot Inn and Les Varines to investigate what had happened and redirect traffic after receiving the report at 11:50 on Thursday.
A number of the "jumping" covers were on the main road, while others were reported to be in a nearby housing estate.
No one was injured.

It's unclear what caused the covers to be forced into the air, but it's thought to be related to gas pressure underground. Officials said that the "mixture of gases" responsible were yet to be ascertained.
One fire engine was sent to the area, with representatives from Jersey Gas and the Department for Growth, Housing and Environment (GHE) and the Police arriving shortly after.
Residents and occupiers of nearby properties were asked to remain calm and advised to stay above basement levels.
Officials decided not to evacuate properties, but the Police have offered to assist those who wished to leave the area.
Buses were also redirected from the area.
DIVERSION: Route 2 is being diverted to Victoria Road (Georgetown) and then on to Rue des Pres and back on route at Miladi Farm. Apologies for any inconvenience

Investigations by GHE officials remain ongoing, and the road remains closed in the interim.
