Monday 16 November 2015

Police are investigating the unexplained death of a 27-year-old man on Saturday that’s thought to be linked to a white powder drug that has put several people in hospital.

The drug is thought to have been used at a party by several people.

Police say that one man has died, and two women have also been taken ill – one 23-year-old woman remains in hospital in a “comfortable” condition, and a 24-year-old woman has since been discharged.

A police statement says that anyone in Jersey who has used a white powder drug in the last 48 hours and who starts to feel ill should get medical assistance immediately.

They say: “We have become aware of a white powder drug in the Island which has been used at a party over the weekend resulting in several people being taken ill.

“If you have used a white powder drug in the last 24/48 hours and feel unwell please seek medical assistance immediately.

“Whilst we don’t currently know what this drug is, recreational drugs often contain substances which are not intended for human consumption.

“If you have any information about the use or supply of drugs in Jersey please let us know on 612612 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.”
