Blind duck Mr Bubbles on the hunt for a "retirement home" in Jersey

Islanders have gone quackers for an "adorabubble" blind duck "looking for a quiet place to enjoy his retirement" – possibly with a lady friend or two.

Adult male runner duck Mr Bubbles is currently living at the JSPCA, but is hoping to a "peaceful" spot to live out his twilight years.

As part of their bid to help find him a new place, the JSPCA posted about their feathered resident on Facebook this afternoon

While the post noted that Mr Bubbles will need to live in a "small enclosed area" to stop him from getting "lost or disoriented", it noted that he is still "really good at finding his food and playing in his water bowl".

The post also said he "can't live in a group or be free like his sighted friends", but added that "he may be able to live with one or two females".

Contrary to what his name might suggest, Mr Bubbles is also unable to "join in swimming in any ponds but, as he is a runner duck, a small amount of water to wet his bill will be plenty".

The JSPCA said that his new owner would be expected to have to have previous experience caring for ducks or poultry.

Islanders were quick to flap back with praise for the "lovely" beaked boy, with the post racking up more than 300 'likes' and nearly 200 comments in mere hours.

One commenter said she had "fallen in love", while another described Mr Bubbles as "the cutest duck I've ever seen".

Others branded him as "gorgeous", "lovely" and "perfect".

Janine Le Miere summed up the island's feelings with a punnier tribute, saying: "Awwwww Mr Bubbles is 'adorabubble'! I'm sure he'll find the right home, bless him."
