Tourist's touching message in a bottle finds its way to shore

Saturday 20 August 2022

A heartfelt message in a bottle from a newlywed tourist has washed up at Corbiere, celebrating Jersey as the "most amazing place I've ever been".

Found by a young boy while he was playing at Corbière, the touching message in a bottle was penned by an unknown tourist called Michelle and addressed to her "future mother- and father-in-law"

She expressed her sadness that she never got to meet her in-laws, but thanks them for raising their son with "the most amazing morals and a huge heart".

Pictured: The "lovely" letter was shared on Facebook by an islander whose son found it washed up at Corbière.

Michelle, who presumably wrote the letter whilst on holiday in Jersey with her future husband, thanks her husband's parents for giving him "a passion for this island" through "simple family holiday activities that will stay with him throughout his lifetime".

The finder of the letter described the message as "lovely". She has since confirmed that it has been sealed in a new bottle - along with an additional note - and sent back out to sea.
