A million reasons to support Jersey Hospice Care

Monday 15 May 2017

Jersey Hospice Million Pound Lottery tickets will be on sale from today.

The lottery is their biggest fundraiser of the year and Jersey Hospice Care’s Chief Executive, Emelita Robbins, is encouraging Islanders to get involved.

She said: "The Million Pound Lottery is the biggest and one of the most exciting events in the Jersey Hospice Care calendar. It’s wonderful to be able to offer everyone in the local community a chance to win a life changing amount of money; islanders who throughout the year do so much to support their hospice."

"I’d encourage everyone to buy their tickets early, tickets sell out every year, and this year we have the early bird prize draw, very kindly sponsored by de Gruchy. Our grateful thanks go to de Gruchy and NatWest for hosting us this year – we are very much looking forward to working with them. We are also extremely grateful to all the volunteers who help us to sell tickets and donate their time to this event."

The Million Pound Lottery raises £500,000 towards the annual running costs of Jersey Hospice Care of £5.3 million. Tickets will be on sale across the Island, and for the first time sold in store by Hospice charity partner de Gruchy.

The store has sponsored an early bird prize draw in an effort to encourage Islanders and syndicates to purchase their tickets early. De Gruchy will give £1,000 in store vouchers to one lucky ticket holder who purchases their ticket before Wednesday 14 June.

John Marquis, Store Director of de Gruchy said: "de Gruchy are delighted to be supporting Jersey Hospice Care as our Charity of choice this year."

"It’s a great privilege to be able to facilitate the sales of tickets for the Million Pound Lottery and sponsor the Early Bird raffle."

A total of £1,300,000 will be given away in prize money through the lottery, with £1 million as the first prize, followed by prizes of £100,000, £75,000, £50,000, £25,000 and five prizes of £10,000 to lucky ticket holders.

The 6,000 tickets, priced at £300 each, will be available from de Gruchy in town,  and until 26 May in NatWest at Les Quennevais.

Islanders will also be able to buy them from the reception at Jersey Hospice Care.

Payment for tickets can be made by cash, cheque and debit card, with the exception of NatWest, St Brelade, which is cash or cheque only, and purchasers must be aged over 18 years old.
