The true effect of carelessly throwing away what we no longer want into the sea has been laid bare by yet another image showing the damage it can do.
Jersey's Environmental Health officers found the gull in the above picture while doing their annual bathing water quality testing at Bouley Bay last week.
They had to remove the carelessly discarded line, which had wrapped itself around the beak, wings and legs of the gull.
Fishermen are being reminded to take more care in how they get rid of unwanted tackle.
The seawater testing continued to record good results for the island's bathing spots, with the full results available here.
