Welcome back Puffling! Missing tortoise pops up in new spot

Friday 11 August 2023

After an adventure getting repairs and a fresh lick of paint, the tortoise 'Puffling' has made it back onto the Tortoise Takeover trail – albeit in a new location.

The tortoise was taken off her plinth three weeks ago after two large cracks appeared, making her a rare catch for keen tortoise collectors who got out to Sorel Point early.

After undergoing repairs, Puffling took her place in a new spot at Millennium Cross car park, near the Horse Box Café, on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust said that the sculpture's location had been changed "so it is in a more accessible location".

App users should see her in her new location on the in-app map.

Puffling was designed by Jersey artist Katherine Cadin, whose inspirations include coast and marine life, and aboriginal art and her Greek heritage.
