A 31-year-old man has pleaded guilty to taking photos of people for his sexual gratification without their consent in car parks, the bus station and Central Market.
Speaking through a Portuguese interpreter in the Magistrate's Court this week, Marco Paulo Freitas Do Nascimento admitted taking the images on a mobile phone between 16 June and 30 August last year in the Central Market, Green Street, Howard Davis Park, Liberation Station, Minden Place, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sand Street, Snow Hill and West Park.
He also admitted attempting to make another illicit image in Minden Place on 7 September. Assistant Magistrate Peter Harris released Do Nascimento on bail on condition that he does not leave or attempt to leave the island.
He adjourned sentencing until 11 April to allow time for a background report to be prepared and added: "The question of whether there should be a recommendation for deportation may arise."
