Political newcomer Moz Scott, who lost out on becoming a Senator by just 123 votes, says she won't be asking for a re-count.
The St. Brelade Bay campaigner, who was in eighth place for a great deal of yesterday's election results - and looked as if she might secure a spot in the new States - was pushed into ninth place when St. Helier returned a massive vote in favour of Reform Party Chairman Sam Mezec.
She polled 10,884. With Deputy Mezec polling 11,007 and seventh place Senator Ferguson polling 11,297. In the last election Sarah Ferguson also narrowly missed getting in finishing in ninth place, 262 votes behind Senator Philip Ozouf. She called for a re-count but it made no real difference.
In a press release this morning Ms Scott says: "I am aware some voters would like me to request a recount. Having considered this matter, I do not feel the vote difference merits one... I congratulate the successful candidates, hope they will serve the Island as a team and wish them well with the many challenges that the Island will face moving forward."
