Gary Willmett retained his Mr Channel Islands crown at Jersey's annual bodybuilding extravaganza at the Opera House last night while Elly Hodgson - a newcomer to the stage - took the women's title.
Gary (36) outmuscled the local competition to take back-to-back wins although the overall title went to a visitor - Dean White (22) from Birmingham. Elly (30), like Gary a personal trainer, had earlier won her Toned Bikini class before taking the top female title. It was also a successful night for Elly's husband, Ryan, who won the novice class.
The Island's musclemen and women put on a show as the finest bodybuilders in the Channel Islands wowed the crowd. A first prize of £500 was presented to winners of the male and female classes in the Channel Islands Bodybuilding Championships - with hundreds of bodybuilding fans in attendance.
There were a total of eight categories last night, including bikini, teenager, fitness and the overall male and female champion. The competition was overseen by the Physical Culture Association.
Dean White, pictured below, won the men's junior section as the 22-year-old, who trains at Pure Fitness, showed off his impressive physique. Dean recently travelled to Romania for a prestigious bodybuilding competition and came fourth out of 22 competitors.
Steve Woods, who works out at Jan's Fitness Study, was also a popular competitor as he flexed his muscles on stage.
