Jersey sport gets TV boost

Tuesday 18 November 2014

Sport in Jersey is set to go viral with the launch of a new online sports channel giving local clubs and athletes a springboard to promote what they do.

The team behind it hope that Jersey Sport TV, which you can view on YouTube 24 hours a day in 30 countries around the world, will help kick-off more sports tourism in the Island.

3C International’s Business Director Phil Bouchard said: “The 3Ci team is passionate about sport and passionate about creative communication content. Jersey Sport TV provides the opportunity to not only promote sports clubs and individuals but our island as a whole.

“Jersey is the perfect place to train and compete and offers top quality easily accessed sports facilities. Our online videos are the most powerful and engaging way to get across the message that Jersey is a fantastic place for sport and the island as a whole stands to benefit from the additional exposure internationally.”

The new channel launched last month and has already been helping to promote International Ironman and Triathlete Dan Hawksworth, the annual Jersey Squash Classic, Farmers Cricket Club and the Jersey Fencing training camps.

The States are already fans of the site and hope more people will get to see what Jersey has to offer on the sports field.

David Kennedy, Sports Manager (Development Services) said: “Through our Fit For The Future Strategy we have identified the potential to increase sports tourism and events in Jersey.

"The work of Phil and Tom at 3C International to introduce Jersey Sport TV provides us with an excellent opportunity to co-ordinate the promotion of sporting activity on the islands as well as promote the excellent facilities we have to offer.

“We are working with schools, sports clubs and individual athletes at all levels to communicate what Jersey is capable of in a sporting context and what we offer in terms of competition and location.”

Island Sports Club Officer Nikki Holmes said: “The films showcase the wide range of sports and facilities in the island and clubs are really excited about the opportunity to promote their activities both here in Jersey and across the world.”

3C International also introduced JRFC TV on YouTube earlier this year.
