New St. Clement Constable hopes to retain seat

Thursday 12 May 2022

The Constable elected to represent the Parish of St. Clement after the passing of its former head, Len Norman, is hoping to retain the post after June’s election.

Marcus Troy was the owner of the former Shakespeare Hotel, and previously served as a Committee member on the Hotel and Guest House Association (now the Jersey Hospitality Association).

He was also previously President of the Leo (young Lions) Club and has been a Chair of Le Rocquier School's Board of Governors.

He joined the States Assembly in July 2021 after being elected with 1,185 votes, 77% of those cast. Since then, he has been a member of the Planning Committee.

In a short statement, he said that "for the avoidance of doubt, I confirm that I will be standing for election for the position of Constable in the Parish of St. Clement in the forthcoming elections."

He also confirmed to Express that he would be standing as an independent candidate, and pledged to share more information about his campaign once nominations had officially closed.
