The sorting hat has been delivered and staff at Jersey Library are preparing to get as many young bookworms as they can under the spell of Harry Potter.
Young wizards, witches and Muggles will be treated to a whole host of games, activities and quizzes at the magical evening on Thursday 5 February encouraged by the publisher to celebrate JK Rowling’s seven iconic Harry Potter books.
Chief Librarian Ed Jewell said: “We are thrilled to be joining up with schools, libraries, bookshops and community centres throughout the UK, Ireland and beyond to celebrate the first ever Harry Potter Book Night. The Sorting Hat has been delivered and Dobby has been hard at work getting the Library ready: it promises to be a fantastic event!
The event for children between eight and ten starts at 4 pm in the Town Library when the Sorting Hat decides who will be in which House, competing for house points.
There’ll be a Harry Potter fancy dress competition, readings from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and a fiendish Harry Potter Trivia Challenge.
Tickets for the event are free and you can magic your hands on some from the Young Readers Department.
