No death link to arrests, say cops

Thursday 08 May 2014

Three people arrested in connection with the death of a teenage boy last month were not responsible for his death, say police.

The States of Jersey Police have taken the unusual step of issuing a statement about the arrests carried out during the investigation into the death of 17-year-old Jared Harrison, who they think had been taking a white powder – purported to be MDMA – before he died.

The young man was tragically found dead by paramedics after they were called at 6 am on Saturday 5 April by paramedics at a town address. The police said at the time that two teenagers had been arrested on suspicion of importing a controlled substance and that a 39-year-old woman spent part of the following afternoon at the police station helping officers with their inquiries.

The police statement said: “The three individuals whom were arrested in relation to the Jared Harrison enquiry have since been eliminated from having any direct responsibility of Harrison’s death, however drug offences are still under investigation.”
